Ole Tobias Olsen

Teacher, folklore collector and finally parish priest from Dunderlandsdalen, and one of Norway's first photographers. From the 1860s Olsen carried a wet-plate camera through Nordland — among the earliest photographs made of northern Norway — to show the south a region he spent his life arguing into the national story, most stubbornly as the tireless advocate of the railway north, which earned him the name "father of the Nordland Line".
